Anna Rose Smejkal was born May 15, 1897 to Jan Smejkal and Anna Novotony in Crete, Nebraska. On November 29, 1917 she married Henry Ferdinand Bals in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Crete, Nebraska. Anna died on January 22, 1997.

Following her death, a number of original family documents and pictures were found in her stored files. Some she probably was aware of, and others, such as a photo of her father, she thought she had lost. Some contained notations as to the content, some are mysteries. Therefore this web site, to publish the information we have, and the hope that other Smejkal descendents have additional information that will be contributed.

Anyone having Smejkal family documents, photographs, stories, corrections or additions to the documentation presented here, information on the Tabor area (Jihočeskŷ Kraj District) of the Czech Republic or other related information are encouraged to email these to webmaster@bals.info. They will be incorporated into this website with appropriate credit to the contributor. If regular mail is more appropriate for the item, contact the email address for a mail address.
